Airfares to Goa Priced Much Lower in 2011
In case you plan to make a trip to Goa during New Year’s Eve, then you are likely to be pleasantly surprised with the airfares. Air tickets to Goa during this time of the year are normally exorbitant due to the holiday season. However, this year the trend seems to have changed and air fares are much cheaper than the previous years. A one-way ticket to Goa will now cost Rs. 6,300 going by the lowest fare if you plan to travel on December 30. Even if you push it to December 31, the same ticket will cost you Rs 3,500. Air tickets to other cities such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Jaipur are also priced competitively. However, the same cannot be said about the return tickets. If you plan to make your return trip on January 2, 2012, you might have to shell out much more as the air fares on that particular date are relatively high.
The airfares for a round trip are also very reasonable and if you plan to make a trip to cities such as Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur etc., the air tickets will still cost around Rs 10,000 –15,000. If you plan to make a return trip from Mumbai to Goa, the basic return fare (if you are departing on December 30 and getting back on January 2) would be anywhere between Rs 15,000 and 17,000. If you book for December 31, then you will see a drop and the return fare would then cost around Rs 12,500 to Rs 14,000.
There has been a drop of about 50% in the one-way tickets to places like Delhi, Jaipur, and Goa etc., when compared to the rates that prevailed during the Christmas season. Now, the return tickets are likely to cost more and flyers have to be prepared to shell out more if they book their return tickets for Jan 2. However, if the holiday can be extended by another day, the flyer will be able to save at least Rs 2,000 on the air fares. Travel agents claim that during the same time last year, a round trip to Goa would have cost around Rs 25,000, while the air fares in the other sectors were in the range of Rs 18,000 to 22,000 last year.
The price of a Mumbai-Jaipur return ticket is in the price range of Rs 13,000 to 14,500 as of December 30, and the Mumbai-Bangalore round trip will cost anywhere between Rs 10,000 to 11,000.
Even the Mumbai-Delhi-Mumbai route will cost a bit more than the non-peak seasons. These low prices are being offered now, because most of the flyers have already made their travel bookings well in advance, state experts. Hence, carriers have decided to drop their airfares in order to fill up the vacant seats, states Rajesh Rateria, MD, Cirrus Travels. Discounts are also being offered by some of the major airlines and they may be in the range of Rs 2,000 to 5,000 if the flyer books the return ticket on the same airline, states the Fort-based agent. |
